What is Deviant Chocolate?

Deviant Chocolate, LLC, is a family-owned business based in Snohomish, WA. Cindy Martin has been passionate about craft chocolate for many years and began making her own chocolate occasionally in 2006. In 2017, this passion took a more serious turn. Cindy’s husband, Justin, and children, Taylor and Colby, began assisting with batch after batch, recipe after recipe. It was obvious from the start that this is a different kind of artisan chocolate. Rather than just doing the standard formula of nibs + sugar + cocoa butter, Cindy started infusing the base ingredients. Why not put chai spices in the sugar for a week or two? How about using sous vide to infuse the flavors of fresh mint leaves or dried chilies into the cocoa butter? What about putting coffee straight into the refiner instead of treating it like a stir-in at the end? And who says bean to bar chocolate must produce only bars? What if we want foil-wrapped bite sized pieces that can be sold individually or in cute packages?

Deviant was born.

Deviant uses only organically farmed, direct-traded or fair trade certified cacao, organic/fair trade cocoa butter, organic sugar, and organic whole milk powder. Occasionally, non-organic products are added when there is no equivalent product available that is certified organic.

Because Deviant is small-batch, this enables retailers to help design a signature, exclusive chocolate blend without making a significant commitment in cost or inventory. Chocolate can pair beautifully with coffee, tea, wine, beer, spirits… the options are endless, and so is our creativity!
